Before (re)joining the WLC staff in the summer of 2015, Dr. Jansa enjoyed a long career in the field of language education, training, and administration spanning nearly 20 years. A native of Germany, he served as GSU faculty member and later staff member from 2006 until 2012. More recently, he held the position of Language Program Director at the Goethe-Zentrum, German Cultural Center Atlanta, where he was in charge of all on and offsite training initiatives, language curricula, teacher training, as well as internationally-recognized language proficiency examinations administered at the center.
His duties as WLC Business Manager include managing the Department’s multi-million-dollar budget, including payroll, human resource administration, procurement, account reconciliation and expense reporting, and budget projections, as well as post-award management of multiple internal and external/federal grants.
Jansa earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership with a focus on higher education from Georgia State University. His research initially centered on leadership at the intersection of college and university internationalization with postsecondary world language education. It has since shifted to administrative staff leadership and its impact on organizational effectiveness. His studies have also granted him profound insights into the financial and organizational workings of institutions of higher education and greatly informs his management of budgets in keeping with institutional policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as staff leadership and development.
Dr. Jansa is the recipient of the 2018 College of Arts and Sciences Senior Staff Leadership Award, as well as the 2017 Outstanding Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership Student Award in the College of Education and Human Development.
He is a member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), the Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U), and NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
